Have you met... me?

Since it's Sunday now, I would call it the 'past' week :). I really don't know how to draft a post now, so much has happened in the past week. Should I separate them into a few post or should I just summarize all in one? Anyway while I was typing, I've already decided that I would make it all in one :)

Alright, so yesterday was a day filled with activities, the KL Bar young lawyers decided to come and meet with us Year 1 and Year 2 students. The workshop was a pretty relaxing ones, we asked a lot of questions whether related or non related to the law field :) Anyhow the overall experience was a good one and it was held in the Moot court :). Now, I'm pretty quite sure what lies in the future for me and what I wanna do with my life in the next few years :).

Hi, have you met... me?

.
.

(HAHA, I super duper jakun sorreh!)

Meet us, the lifeless law students :P

Meet my friend, Sin Yee & Ling Ying :) Haha, I just can't help but notice that Rachel is so cute at the back :P

Jack, haha we can crap 24/7 :P

Then it was 1pm and we left to watch Red!

Ratings for Red : 4/5
Haha go watch it, it's really hilarious!

My sibling organized a private Halloween party in a rented apartment :)
We had about 30-40 peeps over for games and drinking.
Lots of drinking were going on until the next day.
Many were down and I had to drive my brother home.
He was pretty much KO-ed too :(

Nonetheless, last night was the craziest night ever!

They call themselves the FML crew :S

The picture above is a teaser of last night, pictures are not entirely up yet, shall share with you soon

Well, I wanna take this opportunity to thank those who supported this sales of ours, without your support we wouldn't have made a profit :) Also we wouldn't have been able to help the children in Bario :).

Thanks J and E for dropping by for the cupcakes.

Thanks to P, L and D :) I don't know if the hotdogs were tasty but thanks for coming to the foyer and supporting the sales!

The law lecturers were really supportive too :DD They bought like really a lot to bring back to the office. Sharing is caring after all :P

First Mentor Meeting Session

Law school makes me do crazy stuff.
Excuses haha, I was already cuckoo before law school.

Heyyo people :), so basically these few days law school has been really fun and stressful at the same time. Lots of things are going on now, lectures, tutorials, online assignments, interviews, talks and then there's the bake sales for tomorrow :)!

The bake sales is gonna be handled by all of us from the Oct 2010 Cohort students :), our theme is basically just 'Food for charity'. Supposingly I was gonna bake muffins for tomorrow, but then Najwa said that we have lots of food already, however we are short of waiters/waitresses, therefore I'll be a waitress tomorrow.

The bake sale will be from 8am to 2pm in front the Student Life Centre, on the foyer. Oh wells, basically that's where all the sales and bazaar thingy were held all these while.

Oh well, you must be tired of me yapping and yapping about the charity sales tomorrow, I shall get back to my first mentor session with Mr. A. Mr. A is Jack, Ling Ying and my mentor. Actually he's our personal tutor, but I prefer to say it as mentor, because I like to say MENTORRRRR. So, basically we went to meet him after Criminal lecture today.

From what I heard about others personal tutor meeting session, theirs lasted for about 5-10 minutes only. Guess what? Mine was about 45-50 minutes long :). Basically, Mr. A is just a bit older than us, and I shall say, he's a very friendly lecturer. Since the age gap is not that wide, we could really talk to him, and then knowing Jack, he really can talk a lot. Therefore, we met Mr. A for about 50 minutes.

We were just there sharing and chatting, nothing serious actually. Anyway, there was another group of staff in the room next to ours and it was getting really annoying already. So, around 2.50pm, Mr. A dismissed us and we left. We went back to class to look for Amanda but found Rachel and Grace instead.

Oh well, my first mentor meeting session was nothing like was I dreaded. Boring, awkward and quiet! None of the three that I mentioned! Now, I really have to start thinking about what I want to do after law school. As you can see, life is no fairytale, parents don't cave our pathway for us, we do. We decide our own lives, it's either we make it through, or we break it.

It's so expensive to study in Taylor's, why waste the money if can't do well? Might as well take the money and do business right? So, now that I have stepped into this, that means I will have to do my best and graduate from law school. Really don't want to taint my record or history just like what Mr. A said.

Cheers peeps, if you happen to be at Taylor's Lakeside Campus tomorrow, do drop by the foyer around 8am to 2pm aight?

Happy Birthday again Jonathan!

xx

Law School Musical

When I'm stressed because I have so much to do, I watch this and I laugh because I know law school is one of the best years of my life :)

Friday, the longest day of my week.

The day started off with the programme director of Reading's School of Law telling us about how awesome life at Reading is xD. Seriously, I freaking excited already after the talk. We kept shooting her with questions bout Reading, anyway it's really nice and informative, can't describe it :)

This is the person who made my day xD, she's such a friendly lecturer :))

Then, there were the two guys who dressed identically and so chun-ted that I felt underdressed.

See, IDENTICAL!

Oh ya, then J reached Lakeside, and we went for our BR date.
Yay, he treated me to my free BR, my belated birthday treat WHEEE!

These two are the pre-made ice-cream cake, without icing O.O

My froyo~

As usual la, the guy with his Jamoca Almond Fudge.
Trying to multitask, taste ice-cream, holding his cone and pay for the ice-cream.
Tsk tsk.

Weekend is here, and it doesn't mean holiday, so it's time to go bury myself in McKendricks.
toodles.

VoilĂ ! It's Tuesday.

Ok now we are having lunch at Subway with the girls and the three guys :). It's kind of hot around here. Just had my first contract law tutorial, might I say contract law is really interesting, and Mr. A is so knowledgable about almost everything and anything. I'm in the same group as John and Joshua, thank god, at least someone I know, not *ahem* and *ahem hehehe.

Oh well, if I have a camera now in my iPad, which I obviously don't. I would have taken the photo of Amanda gobbling down her subway and also my beautiful Chindian friend, Rachel here :).

Oh, ya not forgetting the triple J, yes all the three guys' name starts with J, having the time of their lives with their sandwiches over there in the next table. Ya we had to sit separately because of the small tables and small space in Subway. That's so bad huh.

I'm currently typing away and waiting for the next contract lecture, waiting to be awed by Mr. A again lol. I really salute all these law lecturers, being able to story tell the cases, adding own point of view and planting food for thoughts in our minds. Well, I guess I'm just really inspired right now.

I'll shall go back to chatting with them, chao :)

Imagine

Imagine by John Lennon

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man

Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

week 2 happenings.

Tuesday

I reached university earlier than expected that day.

Enough said, I was so bored that I was dozing off in the lecture theatre.

Thursday

On a quest of searching for the perfect pair of shoes for formal event. Detour-ed a bit and went into Kitschen to play with their mirror.

Did not buy the high-waist pencil skirt :)

Suited up, *ok not exactly since I didn't bring my blazer along*, and then off to university to attend the inspirational talk by Dato Mahandev Shankar.

It's a reflective wine cupboard.

On the same day, found out my Tutorial group. I absolutely got the group that I've been wishing for :D.

Friday

It was my birthday.

First cake from law classmates, Matcha from RT Pastry :)
Thanks guys!

Second cake from PE1-ians of A-levels, Chocolate Brownies from Secret Recipe.
You guys make me fat xD

:)

I absolutely love all of them.
It was really very thoughtful of them all.

Sunday

One of my favourite shop is finally opened in The Gardens!

So.... did... not... enter the shop.
The queue was so long!

I also went to a charity dinner which was held in Chung Hwa Independent High School.
It was funny that MCA's Chua Soi Lek and Opposition's Elizabeth Wong were both there to give their speech.
It was also rather dramatic. The way those giving speeches had to speak in Mandarin.
Enough said, Chua Soi Lek spoke better Mandarin than Elizabeth Wong.

Chua : Elizabeth spoke rojak Mandarin, nevermind that because her intention were delivered clearly, she finished her speech too. It's ok Elizabeth :) I wasn't able to speak Mandarin too. Just gotta speak more often and then would be good to go.

Hmm, these photos shall wrapped up week 2.
Adios peeps, yours truly ;) is signing off.

P.S This post is solely based on my thoughts and opinion. No pun intended :).

A note of appreciation

There goes week two of classes.
Also, Friday is the most hectic day ever for the whole week.
I'm gonna have classes like from 8am to 4pm.
I know *applause applause*
Oh did I mention last Friday was my birthday?

My law classmates bought me a cake and sang me birthday song.
We took our very first group picture too :)
Then they practically force fed me the cakes :/
Lunch was at Wong Kok because we wanted to get the free birthday milk tea.

Also a very big thank you to all my PE1 friends who came to my dinner last night.
Those who came :)

I had lots of fun catching up with you guys. We should do this more when the rest are back for holiday. Thanks a lot for the super big cake okay.

So here I am writing a note of appreciation to those who wished me face to face, SMSes, Facebook messages and Twitter messages. Hmm, that's all I could think of. Oh ya, and special thank you to my UK friends who texted and called me specially just to remind me that I'm old, thank you very much lol!

I think that's about it, I'm officially 19 and old, gotta be wiser :P

Monday, October 11, 2010

who told you that?

Finally, classes started officially. First lecture was Criminal Law. It wasn't as stressful as I expected. In fact, my lecturer made lecture one really exciting though. hmm, also most of us came prepared so it wasn't really boring either :D

Anyway, today I met like a lot and a lot of people that I know in campus. A few senior of mine were previously my schoolmates and college mates. I saw Marianne, Kai Xian, Hui Hwa, Cedric and Elaine today! The world is really small.
Hmm, and we had this signature list thing with every senior's description and we had to figure out who's who. So, Lee & Ching xD went around talking to seniors, and I tagged along too.
WE GOT MORE THAN 10 SIGNATURES! NO NEED TO BE PUNISHED TOMORROW WHEE!

Anyhow, during our three hours break today, we ate and took pictures at the Amphitheater for G&H Face Search. Hmm, the frames were all made out of newspaper, it was really creative but I was really ugly lol, because the weather was unbearably hot, oily face and messy hair!

We camped in the library for the rest of the time. I snuck in my lunch XD

Ops don't mind me ya, I looked like sakai anyway.

Then it was Tort lecture time.
Mind you, my lecture venue has no white board :(, only the stupid projector.
We have to picture everything in our mind as the lecturer describe it.
Sucks a lot.
Anyway, mmmm Tort is an interesting subject too.

Finally gonna register at the University of Reading's online portal tomorrow.
Ahh, notes and tutorials!

Yikes, why does the bookstore named itself UNIVERSITY BOOKSTORE when all the required textbooks for a law undergraduate like me are OUT OF STOCK?!

Sunday, October 10, 2010

who's who?

Friday, October 8, 2010

I can.

Lex Slide - CHECKED!

Decided to find Wen Wen @Toy r us, Empire Shopping Gallery today because today was my rest day, I don't need to fight the jam and fight for parking in university :D

We only hung out for about 2 hours because his break time was only one hour long and another hour was me hanging around cashier disturbing him, thus lowered his working performance xD So so sorry :P

Ok, he looked very comfortable :P

Cashier Wen Wen in action xD

I was talking to him and then he had to entertain me, then the customers were getting pretty annoyed, so I walked away to let him do his job and visited the store.

This is a freaking funny game.

Then he got his break at 2pm, he punched out and we walked towards our lunch spot @Uncle Lim, Subang Parade.

His food and my lime juice.

Whee, I love his Toy r us polo tee xD

Being an awesomely good friend, see Wen Wen, I'm praising you! He accompanied me to ride down the world's largest indoor slide a.k.a Lex Slide which was officially open not long ago :D

My Ticket RAWR

You will always be a kanak-kanak ribena, you know xD

This is the entrance, it's not scary :)

It was a good experience, RM12 was definitely worth it.
Gonna drag the rest of PE1 there the next time they are back for holidays!

Orientation week insight

During the orientation week, I found out that my class comprises of many awesome debaters, people who stood out all their high school and college lives. It's ok, I won't be beaten down just because I wasn't as bright as they were. Everyone shines differently, I know that someday I'll find the light that belongs to me.

Also, my lecturers were all very intimidating, it's good in a way, you know how Malaysian students has been trained to be passive and I can safely say that, we have been spoonfed all our primary and secondary schools lives. Let me assure you, there's no such thing anymore in university, at least not in Taylor's Law School/University of Reading. Basically, it's all about working in a team/group and also all the hardwork one is willing to put in.

It's a program which trains all of us law students to be vocal, competitive, all-rounded and most importantly, to be able to survive in the future. There are many law graduates nowadays, and everyone is just about the same, what makes them different is their ability to shine in their own ways, and I believe that's what the employer sees in a potential candidate.

Nowadays, it's not all about attending classes, doing assignments and cramming for exams anymore, no more the life of a geek. We are also required to be active in clubs and societies ( Law Society, Mooting, Lexicon Newsletter & Community Service in my case). Well, like what Mr. Gerald from the LASC team said, it's better to be involved in one club and contribute as best as we can, rather than be what majority did in high school, that is to join everything and be active in nothing.

I'm not so sure about which to join though, I myself love to write, and I used to be in Leo Club, those were the days where we would go around visiting Orphanage/Old Folks Home. Sorry, it was a sudden pang of nostalgia that stroke me. Now, I really miss high school :(. Miss those days I used to spend with my friends who are now basically scattered all over the world BUT Malaysia :(.

Today marks the end of the Orientation week, basically everything were already explained by the lecturers, my classmates were all holding books already (including me of course), but I didn't get the one that's most recommended though. It's ok because everything about law is still very new to me, I'll just start reading and get used to the idea of it :). After all, I'm just 'a piece of white paper', it's easier to write on a white paper :X

I'm getting to know everyone in the course, and some seniors greeted us today. I also found out a lot about other seniors who totally shone during their years with Taylor's. Like what one of them said, you can be a queen of anything, and you can also be a conqueror. Just by hearing about what she said, I'm determined to conquer my fear in university. After all, university does not encourage passiveness, it's all about opening up, taking on challenges and overcome yourself.

Hmm, I think it's enough for now, I better get back to reading the interesting case report I was reading, I'm taking a lot of time in reading it, because everything is just so new and so formal. I'm a slow reader :X

Watch other people make mistake and learn from it, or you could make the unwise decision yourself and outgrow it, so that you won't make the same mistake anymore. :) - Mr. Gerald

Welcome failures into our lives. It's how we grow. What matters is not that you failed, but that you recovered. :) - MIT

What does not destroy me or make me lose my belief, will only make me stronger and tougher. :) - Me

Law Orientation Day One

As many of you may have noticed, today is my first day of orientation at law school. Yes law school. It took me about forty minutes to reach my destination. and then I waited for an hour ++ for the MPH to be opened. Today was mostly talks and talks and talks.

There were forty students excluding me in the law program. We will be divided into four groups for tutorials. Classes would be ranging from 8-4 everyday except for Wednesday as Wednesday would be a field trip day. Made quite a number of friends today actually.

We ate lunch together, went on campus tour, library tour, made new student ID, gotten the car park sticker, hmm what else? yay finally, I started exchanging phone numbers :D Time for my phone to get useful again!

The way the deputy dean explained everything was really intimidating,
I'm hoping to smoothly make it through this one year. *Pray to God*
and I'll sacrifice anything to make it there :)
Mark my words.

Tomorrow would be another long day.

Dear Law, I'm ready to be mind-fcuked :)
